Finishing out June of 2016

1. John, Spencer, and Steven's court of honor for
their Eagle. We were babysitting Rob's kids now, so
we all went over to it.
I'm proud of you boys. It does take a lot of work and dedication.

2. Cousins love to gather.
Katie, Marri, Noelle, & Sophie.

3. While babysitting, we had a cousin party of course!
We kept Noelle, Mallory and Caleb after the court of honor.
They came over along with Marion's boys and Katie.
They are picking out their bracelet we brought back from Hawaii.
The spiral signifies eternal families and just as a spring
supports a bed, we can support each other.

4.Steven and Sophie wanted to fix breakfast for everyone the next morning.
I was good with that:)

5. And it was good - pancakes and scrambled eggs for all.
Mallory, Caleb, Steven, Scott.

6. The older kids wanted to go to Farmington Station and
window shop, so I went with them. We had a good time.

7. We went to a world market store where they bought some
Harry Potter Berie Bott's every flavor jelly beans.
Anyway, some had terrible taste and you didn't know it until
it was too late.

8. Spitting them out and drinking pop to wash away the taste.

9. Yes, I tried one also and got a bad one.

10. The younger kids: Jetta, Scott, Isaac, Caleb.

11. We did baptisms for the dead the next morning.
We had a wonderful time.

12. We read lots of stories from the Grandparent's Book.
Scott and Jetta loved them.

13. last night Jetta and Scott slept with me.
There is something about sleeping children. They are so cute!

14. Home to the temple and then babysitting Samuel while
Ellen and Daniel were at his sister's dance recital at WSU
They were having a Juneteenth celebrating the Blacks.
It was fun to see the culture and eat lunch.
Samuel enjoyed it also!

15. We saw Marc in Fiddler at the Old Barn.
He was Tevye. It is one of my favorite parts that
he plays. It was amazing. For those who know Margo
Tackett, she was Golda and was just as good as Marc.

16. New sand in the sand pile!

17.Noelle walked Aries down. It was so fun to see her
with her horse. They make a beautiful pair.
 .
18.Watching Samuel so Ellen & Daniel can see Fiddler
Some cute Grandpa time.

19. We went to see Emily in "Fairly Potter"
We took Josh with us and had a lot of fun.
She was fantastic as usual and it was very funny.

20. After we were set apart for the Logan, Utah Mission,
we came home and had pumpkin dump cake and did
some singing around the piano. I requested the men sing
together because Daniel hadn't ever sung with them. It was great.
Dad, Chris, Daniel, Tom, Mike and Josh at the piano.
Thank you.

I love you all. Our setting apart was wonderful.
President Capener said some beautiful things with
great promises and much help.
I'm so thankful for the gospel.

Second week of Hawaii

On Sunday we went to see a replica of a 900 year old
Buddhist Temple. We invited Trudy and Ryan to come with us.

Koi fish can live to be lover 100 years old. The kids had
a lot of fun feeding them.

Dad and I with Trudy and Ryan

Placing flowers on Ryan's parents graves.

We stopped and saw the lookout where the battle was
fought that unified the Hawaiian Islands.

Punch bowl Cemetery
It was amazing to see the thousands and thousands of graves
all marked with crosses and leis because it was Memorial Day
the next day. The Scout Troop in the ward we visited all wore
scout shirts to church so they could leave and do a service project at
Punchbowl - putting leis on all the graves. It was amazing to see.

A night for pizza

Memorial Day we went to Ala Moana beach for the
Lantern Float. We went way early so we could have some
good beach time and visiting time with Trudy and Rayn.

The Lantern Float is why we booked the trip at this time.
We all love it. It is actually a very spiritual experience. There
are people of all faiths gathered together to write a message to
family or friends who have passed away in the previous year. The
message is written on the sides of a lantern that is on a boat with a
candle in the center. There are thousands of people with one boat allotted
to each family. There is a program and then we all launch the boats.
It is amazing. The feeling there is very strong.

On Tuesday we went for our second day at the
Polynesian Cultural Center. The 2nd day was free.

Hawaiin Temple

Wednesday we went to Pearl Harbor
It was amazing to see and feel somewhat of the sacrifices
that were made for our freedom. Still, we just don't have a clue.

In the ferry on our way to see the Memorial for the USS Arizona
battleship that was sunk.

There were 1,177 people killed on December 7, 1941
on the USS Arizona.

Names of other members of the ship who were not on the
ship at the time of the bombing and wanted to be buried here.

The ships oil tanks were completely filled the night before.
You can still see escaping oil that comes to the surface today.

We had dinner that night with Trudy and Ryan.
Trudy is Grandma's good friend from high school.
Standing on the bridge in her back yard looking at the Koi fish.

Timmy was fascinated with Ryan's war stories.
They were both wearing camouflage, so we got a picture.

Our last beach: Hunauma Bay
There is a lot of coral reef with so many
different kinds of fish. Everyone had such
a good time scuba diving.

Kirsten loved to draw in the sand.

Sam and Timmy had so much fun in the waves.

 We were really there!

The night before we left, Dad and I went out to dinner and
to the temple. This is what my drink was in. It was like
a pineapple smoothie. It was amazing and I wanted to take
it home. The seat belt worked great!

At the airport ready to go home.

After getting to the LA airport, getting our cars, and
driving home to John's, we finally pulled in after 3:00 a.m.
We slept in on Saturday morning and drove to Pete's.
We went to church the next day with them and then got
home about 6:00 that night. We opened our mission call.

We had a wonderful time. We are always ready to travel
with any of you

We are very excited to serve a full-time mission here
in Fielding Stake.

WE WILL BE SET APART NEXT SUNDAY, THE
26TH OF JUNE AT 6:00 IN THE HIGH COUNCIL ROOM
AT THE STAKE CENTER.
